Moira Chicilo is a Vancouver-based indie/folk-rock singer-songwriter. Her influences are Roots/Americana artists such as Lucinda Williams or Gillian Welch. Vocally she sounds like Aimee Mann (in the personability of her delivery), with a Randy Newman depth and quirk to her songwriting. Moira released 3 singles in 2025, and she has had an exclusive premiere with Canadian Beats, airplay on the CJLO CHRW, CjTR and the Just Us Folk radio stations, was Earshots Song Of The Day, Music BC”s Spotlight of the Week and featured by Folk Canada.

“Picking up my guitar, an act of healing for me..” ~ Moira

Reviver

“ She hopes to remind us of the importance of small towns to the cultural identity of our country -- any discussion of Canada isn’t complete without the story of the small town.” Folk Canada

Moira Chicilo fills a good portion of her summers on road trips, spending endless hours watching small-town signs drift by her window.  In her newest single, Reviver, Moira used this as inspiration to write the hard, challenging, yet beautiful story of Canada’s fading small towns. Reviver showcases Moira’s signature beautifully minimalistic indie folk style – melodic, intimate vocals alongside acoustic guitar, and the inspired addition of the haunting sounds of the pedal steel guitar. Through stark imagery (rusty honda civic and empty shopping carts), Moira’s lyrics lament the hollowing-out of small towns – places that once embodied a spirit of resilience and opportunity but now face a steep decline as they try to survive in uncertain times. The song conveys an intimacy, almost as if you are driving in the car alongside her, down the main street.
